FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you and where is your practice located?

+

We’re Identical Dental, a modern, patient-focused dentist in Greenpoint situated at 108 Norman Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11222.

Are you accepting new patients?

+

Yes! We welcome new individuals and families. Call (718) 475-6823 or use our online form to schedule your first visit.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

+

You’ll meet our team, review your medical/dental history, receive a comprehensive exam—including X-rays and oral cancer screening—and discuss your needs and treatment options.

What payment and financing options do you offer?

+

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash, and checks. Financing via Cherry is available for major procedures, and our billing coordinator can help with insurance questions.

How often should I visit for check-ups?

+

We recommend routine exams and cleanings—typically twice a year—though frequency may vary depending on your specific needs.

What happens during a comprehensive oral exam?

+

Exams include medical history review, clinical evaluation of teeth/gums/TMJ/oral cancer, and diagnostic X-rays to detect decay, periodontal issues, and systemic signs in the mouth.

Do you provide professional cleanings?

+

Absolutely—professional cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup, polish your teeth, and include homecare guidance to support oral health.

What cosmetic services do you offer?

+

We provide professional cosmetic services including teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, bonding, and more to address stains, chips, gaps, and other concerns.

What's involved in professional teeth whitening?

+

We offer in-office and take-home whitening. Safe, effective peroxide-based treatments lighten teeth by several shades. Not all types of stains respond the same; we’ll advise based on your goals.

Will whitening affect existing restorations?

+

No—whitening only affects natural teeth and does not change the color of veneers, crowns, or fillings.

What is implant dentistry?

+

Dental implants are biocompatible posts surgically placed in the jawbone to support crowns, bridges, or dentures, mimicking natural tooth roots.

Are implants right for me?

+

If you're missing teeth, we'll assess your bone volume (bone grafting if needed) and overall health to determine candidacy.

Are implants painful?

+

Placement is performed under sedation. Most patients report minimal discomfort and little memory of the procedure.

What about dentures?

+

We offer custom partial and full removable dentures, crafted for comfort, function, and aesthetics.

Will dentures affect my speech/eating?

+

It takes time to adjust. We'll adjust the fit as needed, guide you on care, and suggest relines if jaw shape changes occur.

Do you handle dental emergencies?

+

Yes—we address toothaches, chipped/broken teeth, abscesses, dislodged crowns/dentures, wisdom tooth issues, and infections promptly. We hope you consider us to be your Greenpoint emergency dentist.

How soon can you see me in an emergency?

+

Emergency calls are prioritized; we strive for same-day appointments when needed.

When should I go to the ER instead?

+

For severe facial trauma, jaw fractures, airway-compromising infections, or uncontrolled bleeding, please visit an emergency room.

Do you treat children and families?

+

Yes—our practice is family-friendly. We provide gentle, age-appropriate care in a calming environment.

Do you screen for TMJ disorders?

+

Yes—TMJ function is evaluated during exams; we help manage jaw pain, clenching/grinding issues.

Do you provide root canals, crowns, and inlays/onlays?

+

Yes—we offer full restorative services including root canal therapy, CEREC same-day crowns, and inlays/onlays.

Are brushing and flossing both important?

+

Absolutely—they work together: brushing cleans tooth surfaces, flossing cleans between teeth to prevent plaque and gum disease.

What about dental sealants and fluoride?

+

We provide fluoride treatments and sealants as part of our preventative care for children and adults.

How long does whitening last?

+

Duration depends on your habits. Proper home care, regular cleanings, and occasional touch-ups help maintain results.
